Arts Council England Theatre Assessment 2008
In 2008 the Arts Council commissioned research into the changes in theatre and the context in which it is created and enjoyed during 2003-8.
Independent consultants Anne Millman and Jodi Myers have completed the research and we are now analysing the issues and taking a closer look at specific areas. This involves conversations with the theatre representative bodies (Society of London Theatre, Theatrical Management Association, the Independent Theatre Council and Equity) so that our analysis will benefit from their insight.
The final theatre assessment will be presented to our National Council in May and published here and on the Arts Council website shortly afterwards.
The assessment will indicate the issues that we believe English theatre is currently facing and what the Arts Council can do to maximise opportunities and create the best possible conditions for great theatre and its audiences to flourish.
